# Climate-Responsive Structures 'Air Houses' are Environmentally Compatible Art Installations By Ell Smith | Published 2017-09-18 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-houses References: [designboom](https://www.designboom.com/architecture/chicago-architecture-biennial-francois-perrin-air-houses-design-new-climate-09-16-2017/) & [designboom](https://www.designboom.com/tag/chicago-architecture-biennial-2017/) These suspended constructions referred to as 'Air Houses' combat common notions of climate responsive architecture. The angular geometric buildings are suspended from the ceiling of a greenhouse, representing the possibilities of architecture working with nature, instead of against it. Both flexible and lightweight, these structures are easy to produce and compatible with both hot and cold climates. The installation, which encourages people to make the most of natural resources, enables plant life and vegetation to grow on the structure's surface, demonstrating a more practical and conscious approach to the future of architecture and construction. By combining economic and environmental realities, the artist behind the project was able to effectively address issues regarding "climate change, energy crisis, population growth, and political uncertainty."
