# Inflatable Road Markers The Air Cone Tape Eliminates Pylon-Related Accidents By Alex Scott | Published 2010-03-12 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-cone-tape References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/03/12/air-cones-for-road-safety/) I like when I come across innovations like this because not a lot of ideas spring out of the sector of [roadside safety](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highrisk-roadway). Regular pylons can be extremely dangerous, as you well know if you've driven on a freeway and had to dodge a renegade cone in the middle of the lane. The Air Cone Tape highly reduces the risk of accidents at the hands of pylons. Designed by Hoyoung Lee, the Air Cone Tape literally comes out of a roll. Once ejected from the machine, the [pylons automatically inflate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conqueror-inflatable) to create a single line of [soft shells](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-project-ara). The worst thing that could happen if you hit the Air Cone Tape would be to get startled over a loud popping sound. I'll take that over going into the ditch. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Inflatable Traffic Markers:** The Air Cone Tape is a groundbreaking solution for safer and more efficient traffic control. - **Soft Barrier Innovations:** The Air Cone Tape is an example of the growing trend towards softer and more flexible barriers to improve safety. - **Automated Safety Solutions:** The Air Cone Tape's machine-controlled design indicates a shift towards automated safety solutions for road use. ### Who This Affects Most - **Construction:** The Air Cone Tape has practical applications in the construction industry for directing traffic while minimizing risk. - **Transportation:** The Air Cone Tape has the potential to revolutionize transportation safety and traffic control. - **Public Safety:** The Air Cone Tape is a disruptive innovation for public safety, particularly in reducing the number of accidents related to pylons on roads. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Road Worker Safety Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/active-worksite.md) - [Character-Like Roadway Bollards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/safety-bollard.md) - [IoT-Connected Traffic Beacons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/traffic-beacon-concept.md) - [Inflatable Accordion-Style Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ventete-ah1.md) - [Self-Inflating Bicycle Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bumpair-20.md) - [Inflatable Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorpipes.md) - [Foldable Air Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ventete-ah1.md) - [Featherlight Inflatable Bike Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflabi-bike-helmet.md) - [Smart Airbag Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-airbag-platform.md)
