# AI-Generated Video Summaries YouTube is Testing a Feature to Add Value to the Viewing Experience By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2023-08-08 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-video-summaries References: [wersm](https://wersm.com/youtube-is-testing-ai-generated-video-summaries/) & [youtube](https://www.youtube.com/new) Generative artificial intelligence is changing the way video content is created and consumed, and [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/youtube-9) is now testing out a new feature for AI-generated video summaries. This new feature helps users get a sense of a video's content before they watch it so that they benefit from a helpful overview of what the video is about. While YouTube offers descriptions for a similar purpose, these AI-generated video summaries are not intended to replace the usual descriptions generated by content creators. However, these AI-generated summaries have the potential to add value to the content on YouTube and help viewers decide if they'd like to keep watching or find a different video that is more aligned with their interests. These AI auto-generated summaries are being trialed on a limited number of videos in English with a closed group of viewers.
