# Rainwater-Harvesting Seedling Covers The Conceptual 'Agrodome' Funnels Water Down to the Roots By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2020-12-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agrodome References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2020/12/11/this-greenhouse-mimicking-dome-helps-harvest-rainwater-and-foster-sapling-growth/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+yankodesign+%28Yanko+Design+-+Form+Beyond+Function%29) & [nos.mx](https://nos.mx/en/home/) The conceptual 'Agrodome' is the design work of NOS and is a [seedling or sapling support solution](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bough-pot) that will help to get as much [rainwater where it's needed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/living-on-groundwater) as possible. The device works by being positioned into the soil right over plants and features a transparent design that will allow solar rays to get through, while also allowing for enhanced breathability. Water from the rain will be captured and directed downwards when in place to dispense it right into the soil around the roots to maximize moisture absorption. The conceptual 'Agrodome' can be removed once the plant is the right size for survival on its own and can be stacked with other units to maximize portability as well as storage. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Rainwater-harvesting Seedling Covers:** Opportunity to create durable and efficient rainwater harvesting seedling covers for agriculture. - **Transparent Seedling Supports:** Opportunity to design transparent seedling supports that enhance breathability, solar ray exposure and enable maximum moisture absorption. - **Stackable Seedling Supports:** Opportunity to create stackable seedling supports that facilitate portability and storage. ### Who This Affects Most - **Agriculture:** The 'Agrodome' is a disruptive innovation in the agriculture sector that enhances seedling growth while promoting water conservation and management. - **Environmental Conservation:** The 'Agrodome' has the potential to disrupt environmental conservation by promoting sustainable agriculture practices and mitigating water scarcity challenges. - **Manufacturing:** The 'Agrodome' presents a manufacturing opportunity to produce stackable and transparent seedling supports that help boost efficiency and crop yields. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Naturalistic Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apot-selfwatering-planter.md) - [Self-Watering Compact Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patella-crescenda.md) - [Self-Watering Flowerpots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gropot.md) - [Self-Watering Smart Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leafypod.md) - [Water Catch-Integrated Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere.md) - [Eco-Conscious Rain-Harvesting Headwear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daughters-of-rain.md) - [Beetle-Inspired Sustainable Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fog-smart.md) - [Haute Hydroponic Gardening Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oasis-smart-farm.md) - [Structural Smart Indoor Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantafrom-smart-indoor-garden.md)
