# Sharply Swirling Abodes The ‘Mop House' by AGi Architects is Full of Lines and Curves By Josh Triantafilou | Published 2012-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agi-architects References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2012/03/28/mop-house-by-agi-architects/) & [agi-architects](http://www.agi-architects.com/) The ‘Mop House’ is an inventive creation from the Spanish-Kuwaiti studio AGi Architects. The exterior of the house is made up of [steep angles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acute-house) that run into one another to produce sharp contrasts. This gives the structure a vivid definition that is usually absent in more everyday structures. AGi Architects composed the interior of the house almost entirely from [curves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sobremesa-house). The walls seem to [swirl into one another](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-house) like milk in a tea cup. This is not to say that the design is dizzy or uncoordinated; to the contrary, AGi Architects achieves a harmony in much the same way disparate tones produce a chord. On this note, one could say that the outside of the house is sharp and discordant, while the interior has the reassuring warmth of a major key. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Sharp Contrasts:** By incorporating steep angles that run into one another, there are opportunities for disruptive innovation in architectural design by creating structures with vivid definition and unique visual impact. - **Curved Interiors:** The use of swirling curves in interior design presents opportunities for disruptive innovation to create harmonious and visually striking spaces that evoke a sense of warmth and cohesion. - **Visual Harmony:** The juxtaposition of sharp and discordant exteriors with warm and inviting interiors offers opportunities for disruptive innovation in architectural design to create visually captivating structures that balance contrasting elements. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** The use of sharp contrasts and curved interiors in the Mop House presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in architectural design to create visually compelling and harmonious structures. - **Interior Design:** The incorporation of swirling curves and warm interiors in the Mop House offers opportunities for disruptive innovation in interior design to create visually stunning and cohesive living spaces. - **Construction:** The unique design elements of the Mop House, such as sharp angles and contrasting exteriors, present opportunities for disruptive innovation in construction methods to build structures with distinct visual impact and definition. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Curved Surface Portuguese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-within-a-few-lines.md) - [Floating Level Aesthetic Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oak-house-1.md) - [Chic Curved Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-house1.md) - [Figure 8-Structured House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-loop-house.md) - [Curved Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-house-1.md) - [Redesigned Curved Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taichung-apartment.md) - [Playful Apartment Makeovers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onda-apartment.md) - [Curvaceous Brick Forest Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/asmalay.md)
