# Wireframe Office Furniture Afterimage by Bomi Park Looks like a Conceptual Computer Rendering By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afterimage-by-bomi-park References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5921853/theres-something-incomplete-about-this-wireframe-desk) & [dmy-berlin](http://dmy-berlin.com/en) The furniture pieces that are part of the series Afterimage by Bomi Park, an industrial designer hailing form South Korea, may look like they are simply renderings on a computer screen, but they are real as can be. Made out of an intricate wireframe, the desks will surely be the bane of pens and paperclips. While the furniture may not yield the most ideal surface to write on, nor does its grid-like design bode well for the safety of stationary, it would work perfectly as a computer station. Afterimage by Bomi Park was recently shown during the [DMY berlin 2012 exhibition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mise-en-abymes). As its title suggests, the desks are inspired by [optical illusions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siembra-capsule), shimmering like a mirage. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Wireframe Furniture:** The trend of wireframe furniture presents disruptive innovation opportunities for designers to create lightweight, visually striking and customizable office furniture. - **Optical Illusion Design:** The trend of incorporating optical illusions into design offers disruptive innovation opportunities for creating unique and visually captivating office furniture. - **Conceptual Computer Rendering:** The trend of furniture resembling conceptual computer renderings opens up disruptive innovation opportunities for designers to challenge traditional design norms and incorporate futuristic elements. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities in creating wireframe furniture that offers a fresh and modern aesthetic to office spaces. - **Office Furniture Manufacturing:** The office furniture manufacturing industry can capitalize on the trend of optical illusion design by creating innovative and visually captivating wireframe desk designs. - **Industrial Design:** The industrial design industry can take advantage of the trend of conceptual computer rendering in furniture design to push boundaries and create futuristic office furniture solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wireframed-Based Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lines-series.md) - [Wire-Accented Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/line-series-furniture.md) - [Futuristic Sculptural Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk.md) - [Minimalist Monochromatic Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arqus-desk.md) - [Slick Perforated Steel Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perforated-steel-furniture.md) - [Dynamic Moving-Illusion Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moving-furniture.md) - [Fluid Wooden Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures.md) - [Elegant Working Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindset-builtin-computer-desk.md) - [Sleek Dynamic Steel Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foln.md)
