# Fire Trail-Inspired Lighting The After Image Floor Lamp Symbolizes a Korean Custom By Meghan Young | Published 2012-05-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/after-image-floor-lamp References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2012/05/after-image-floor-lamp-monocomplex-design-studio/) & [monocomplex](http://www.monocomplex.com/work_lighting_afterimage.html) The After Image Floor Lamp is named after the residue left over by bright lights in the dark of the night. Inspired by one of Korea’s traditional customs, the scene of mouse fire play known as Jui-bool-no-ri in Korean, the light fixture is a mess of red wires that symbolize the flame's residual trail. Created by Monocomplex, a design studio based in Seoul, South Korea, the After Image Floor Lamp may seem chaotic, but there is a natural beauty in its disorderly design. The natural curve of the bright wires are interestingly kept in check by its [black steel frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape). Together, these elements depict the continuity and durability of the fire show as well as the [floor lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1953-floor-lamp) itself. The After Image Floor Lamp is particularly great for [modern living spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizon-table-light). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Disorderly Design:** Exploring chaotic and disorderly designs can create unique and visually captivating products. - **Symbolic Lighting:** Incorporating cultural symbolism into lighting designs can add emotional depth and meaning to the product. - **Black Steel Frames:** Using black steel frames in design can provide a bold and contrasting element to enhance the overall aesthetic. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Integrating disorderly design elements into interior design can create visually striking and artistic spaces. - **Cultural Products:** Creating products that incorporate cultural symbolism can appeal to consumers looking for unique and meaningful items. - **Furniture and Lighting:** Utilizing black steel frames in furniture and lighting designs can add a modern and industrial touch to products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Bonfire-Inspired Indoor Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iri-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Dual-Purpose Camera-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nostalgian-floor-lamp-clock.md) - [Sculptural Lunar Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonsetter-floor-lamp.md) - [Incense-Mimicking Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/incense-lamp.md) - [Smoky Illumination Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunset-lamp.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Tornado-Inspired Illuminator Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storm-lamp.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md)
