"Built on 25-year-old architecture," notes Ashley Hewson, managing director of Serif, "Adobe couldn’t have anticipated the incredible developments we’ve seen in computers since. Which means that they’re now struggling to adapt Photoshop to take advantage of modern computing power.” On the flip side, Affinity Photo champions “the fastest, smoothest, most precise" tool for professional image editing. To help solidify its superiority in the industry, the beta version of Affinity Photo boasts pro features to entice designers, artists and more to try it out before making a commitment to it. It is compatible with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and Intel 64. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/computers) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Improved Image Editing Software:** Affinity Photo addresses the flaws of Photoshop and offers a faster and more precise tool for professional image editing. - **Advancements in Computing Power:** Adobe's struggle to adapt Photoshop to modern computing power highlights the need for software that can take advantage of the latest developments. - **Beta Testing for Software Adoption:** Affinity Photo's beta version with pro features appeals to designers and artists, encouraging them to try it out before committing to the software. ### Who This Affects Most - **Graphic Design:** Graphic design industry can benefit from improved image editing software like Affinity Photo that offers faster and more precise editing tools. - **Technology:** Advancements in computing power create opportunities for innovative software solutions in the technology industry. - **Software Development:** The concept of beta testing for software adoption can be applied in the software development industry to improve user experience and drive product adoption. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Powered Editing Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photoshop.md) - [Editing AI Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photoshop-ai-tools.md) - [Resolution-Improving Editing Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enhance-super-resolution-feature.md) - [Image Editor Updates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gimp-30.md) - [AI-Powered Image Editing Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adobe-lightroom.md) - [AI-Powered Photo Enlargement Software](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photo-enlargement.md) - [AI-Powered Photo Editing Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aipowered-photo.md) - [Comprehensive AI Photo Editors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picsmanai.md) - [AI-Enhanced Photo Editing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retouch4me-panel.md)
