# Wetness-Monitoring Adult Diapers These Diapers Transmit Alerts to Caregivers Via Text Message By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2015-08-17 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adult-diaper References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/sensor-diaper-sms/38887/) & [a-star.edu.sg](http://www.a-star.edu.sg/Media/News/Press-Releases/ID/4256/Intelligent-sensor-informs-you-to-change-a-diaper-via-SMS.aspx) Researchers at the [Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-smart-bandages) in Singapore have created an adult diaper that is equipped with sensors that monitor the diaper's wetness, before transmitting alerts to [concerned caregivers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threshold-care) via text message. The system consists of a disposable sensor strip, a compact wireless transmitter and a receiver. The sensor component can be integrated into standard adult diapers. The strip, which can be made of metal, plastic or paper, can be discarded after use, while the wireless transmitter can be easily attached and removed for reuse. Staying in soiled diapers for long periods can lead to the development of infections and rashes, which can be both uncomfortable and dangerous. These wetness-monitoring adult diapers enable caregivers to know when it's time to change the wearer's diaper, making the entire process safe and efficient. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Seniors](https://www.trendhunter.com/seniors) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Wetness Monitoring:** Developing wearable devices equipped with sensors that can monitor and track wetness levels in real-time. - **Wireless Alerts:** Integrating wireless transmitters with wearable diapers to notify caregivers when it's time to change the diaper. - **Disposable Sensors:** Creating disposable sensor strips that can be embedded into standard diapers and easily discarded after use. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Healthcare:** Developing and integrating wearable devices with sensors into healthcare industry to improve patient experiences and safety. - **Consumer Electronics:** Using sensors and wireless transmitters to create wearable tech that improves health and convenience. - **Manufacturing:** Creating innovative designs and processes to integrate wearable devices into standard products for enhanced functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI Diaper Care Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mecs.md) - [Baby-Monitoring Smart Crib Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wee-watch.md) - [Connected Monitoring Bandages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wound-bandage.md) - [Advanced Diaper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamshields.md) - [Infection-Detecting Wound Coverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartheal-sensor.md) - [Smart Baby Care Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumi.md) - [Wi-Fi Elder Care Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origin-wireless-ai.md) - [Wi-Fi-Enabled Senior Care Sensors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wifi-sensing.md) - [Performance-Driven Ultra-Small Diapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worlds-smallest-diaper.md)
