This oddly shaped moused was designed by Ryo Yoshimi to mimic the way a human hand naturally grips an object. The idea behind the Adapta Mouse is to ease the strain put on the forearm during prolonged computing. The Adapta Mouse is the product of three years of research gathered to find what position the hand and its muscles would be most comfortable in. The result is a [joystick-type mouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/computer-mouse-concept) that looks surprisingly comfortable. The mouse is still operated via the fingers with the left and right click mapped to the Adapta's front side. Yoshimi's mouse is an entry into the 2011 James Dyson Award. Fingers crossed it's a winner! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Shapeless Handheld Mouses:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: The Adapta Mouse presents a more natural and ergonomic way of pointing and clicking, potentially reducing repetitive stress injuries. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Computer Hardware:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: The Adapta Mouse could disrupt the computer hardware industry by offering a new, more ergonomic alternative to traditional computer mice. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contoured Comfort Mouse Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-ergonomic-mouse.md) - [Strain-Reducing Computer Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-mouse.md) - [Custom Calibration Computer Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ergonomic-computer-mouse.md) - [Egg-Inspired Adjustable Mouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eggshaped-mouse.md) - [Pocket-Sized Ergonomic Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/horizontal-mouse.md) - [Ergonomic Wrist Rest Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allin-ergonomic-mouse.md) - [Pressure-Sensitive Mouse Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/just-another-mouse.md) - [Discomfort Prevention Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-ergonomic-mouse.md) - [Custom Ergonomics Computer Mouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formify-mouse.md)
