# Punny Sci-Fi Cartoons Adam Mccauley Reimagines Star Trek and Star Wars By Deborah Kim | Published 2011-07-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adam-mccauley References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/star-drek-and-other-vaders-comics-by-adam-mccauley/) & [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/07/08/terrible-geek-puns/) Star Trek and Star Wars fans, brace yourself: these hilarious comics by the talented Adam McCauley will have you laughing out loud. Even if you aren’t a fan of either [Star Trek or Star Wars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-spirits), these funny [reimagined comics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-and-disney) are still amusing. Being able to laugh at the randomness behind each comic really makes the comics by Adam McCauley that much greater. My favorite comic is titled ‘Blingon’: it’s a funny interpretation of the (in my opinion) sort-of-terrifying Klingon race. The badass commanding culture on the show is actually accurately portrayed by what a modern gangster-type Klingon might look like. By fusing characters of the Star Trek and Star Wars series with other famous modern figures, McCauley brings a kind of lightness to the characters. Adam McCauley has done an excellent job cartoonizing these beloved [sci-fi characters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buildabridge-mini-bridge). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sci-fi Fan Art:** Opportunity to create humorous and entertaining fan art that reimagines well-known sci-fi characters and franchises. - **Cross-franchise Mashups:** Potential for combining characters and elements from different science fiction franchises to create unique and unexpected narratives. - **Humor in Sci-fi:** Growing interest in incorporating humor into sci-fi art and storytelling, providing a fresh and lighthearted perspective. ### Where This Applies - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity in the creation of comedic sci-fi content that engages and entertains audiences. - **Digital Art:** Potential for artists to leverage digital platforms and tools to create and share their own humorous sci-fi fan art. - **Comic Books:** Opportunity for comic book publishers to explore and promote comedy-focused sci-fi comics for a wider range of readers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Themed Virtual Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roddenberry-archive.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Donut Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinkbox-doughnuts-star-wars-day.md) - [Sci-Fi Franchise-Inspired Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2.md) - [Mind-Bending Graphic Novels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/incal.md) - [Sci-Fi Show Drinking Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corkcicle-x-star-wars.md) - [Sci-Fi Coffee Brews](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scifi-coffee-brews.md) - [Retro Space-Themed Puzzled Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-carter.md) - [Collectible Sci-Fi Coins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-coins.md) - [Sci-Fi-Honoring Toy Puzzle Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/force-of-creativity.md)
