This seascape-resembling furniture piece is incredibly gorgeous and boasts a sculptural form. It is crafted from a combination of [layered glass and wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table) materials and features an organic shape that will make it the focal point of any modern interior. Inspired by nature's beauty, "this unique table uses multiple layers of stacked glass and wood that are combined to create a three-dimensional representation of a geological map." Duffy London head designer Christofer Duffy looked at the changing properties of layered glass panels when creating the Abyss table. While experimenting with his transparent material, the designer realized that his stacked glass pieces began to resemble water depths. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Layered Glass:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new applications of layered glass in furniture design for unique and visually striking pieces. - **Organic Shape:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate organic shapes in furniture design to create eye-catching and conversation-starting pieces. - **Nature-inspired Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop furniture designs that mimic elements of the natural world to bring a sense of tranquility and beauty to interior spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Utilize layered glass and organic shapes to create stunning and unique furniture pieces that stand out in the market. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate nature-inspired furniture designs like the Abyss table to create visually captivating and awe-inspiring interiors. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce nature-inspired furniture pieces that serve as focal points and conversation starters in home decor collections. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Striking Limited-Edition Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limitededition-coffee-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Desert-Like 3D-Printed Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-coffee-table.md) - [Coastline-Inspired Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marea-low-table.md) - [Sea-Inspired Table Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-materials.md) - [Aquatic Creature-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nessie-side-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Aquatic Lake Wood Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snhetta-intersection-table.md)
