# Eclectic Carpet Collages Jonathan Josefsson Abstract Rugs Make for Artistic Interior Decor By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-02-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstract-rugs References: [booooooom](http://www.booooooom.com/2013/02/01/rugs-by-jonathan-josefsson/) & [ollio.tumblr](http://ollio.tumblr.com/) Artist Jonathan Josefsson has created a series of abstract rugs that incorporate fluid shapes and [vibrant colors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sedona-series) as well as organic patterns and designs. With [textured strips of colored carpet fabric](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/textured-rug-design) strategically assembled to get the most visual impact, the series features pieces that are never replicated yet work together as a collection. These would be a pleasant sight when place in the foyer of a home as a welcome mat, but because they are so gorgeous to look at, it would be a shame for people to walk all over them. Instead, they should be hung up on the wall as a work of art, either alone or with several to create a surreal type of 3D scenery. These abstract rugs would look great in an artistic setting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Abstract Rug Art:** Artists are creating abstract rugs that can be used both as functional floor coverings and as unique art pieces. - **Fluid Shapes in Interior Decor:** Interior designers are incorporating fluid shapes and vibrant colors in home decor to create visually captivating spaces. - **Replication-free Collections:** Designers are creating collections of unique pieces that are never replicated, offering customers one-of-a-kind products. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore the intersection of functionality and aesthetics by incorporating abstract rug art in their creations. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage the use of fluid shapes and vibrant colors in their decor projects to create visually stunning spaces for their clients. - **Home Decor Retail:** Home decor retailers can tap into the niche market of replication-free collections by offering customers unique products that add a touch of exclusivity to their homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Art Deco-Inspired Collaborative Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jonathan-adler.md) - [Mesmerizing Artful Patterned Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electtrico-collection.md) - [Vibrantly Abstract Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstraction-collection.md) - [Season-Inspired Rug Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistic-rug-range.md) - [Dynamic Flatwoven Carpet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matter-colection.md) - [Floral-Inspired Home Rug Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magical-garden.md) - [Abstract Geometric Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discorectangle.md) - [Flower-Inspired Vibrant Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espressionismo-floreale.md) - [Artful Washable Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ruggable-x-keith-haring.md)
