Salgado has a variety of influences that aid in his unique style, combining elements of art history and graffiti. Rather than painting portraits in a traditional manner, Salgado uses a technique that he describes as similar to [puzzle pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistedition-jigsaw-puzzles), where he tries to fit together different shapes and sizes to form an accurate portrait. When [painting his subjects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-portraits), Salgado does not focus on trying to portray their individual identities, but rather depict the now-ness or their current state when recreating them. Salgado believes that the ruggedness of his images represent the unfinished hastiness of the human experience. Despite a unique technique, Salgado's abstract graffiti portraits are able to capture the emotion of each subject. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Deconstructed Portraits:** Artists are experimenting with techniques that deconstruct traditional portraits into abstract art pieces, creating new value in the process - **Graffiti Art:** Graffiti artists are expanding their art beyond traditional tags and murals, using their skills to create stunningly accurate portraits - **Now-ness Portraiture:** Artists are exploring new ways of portraying a subject's current state or 'now-ness', which can create more emotive and dynamic art pieces ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art:** New art techniques and styles are emerging, offering disruptive innovation opportunities for artists and galleries to create new value for their clients - **Marketing:** Brands and marketers can leverage abstract portraits as a new way to communicate company values and messaging through unconventional artwork - **Technology:** Advancements in digital and printing technologies enable artists to experiment with new techniques to create deconstructed portraits or graffiti art at a larger scale and lower cost ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Evolved Vibrant Graffiti Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jan-kalb.md) - [Digital Graffiti NFTs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graffiti-wall-collection.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Pop Art-Style Blocked Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-in-red.md) - [Artful Custom Mirror Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portraits-collection.md) - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Collaborative Monochromatic Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collaborative-monochromatic-art-exhibition.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Travel-Inspired Canvas Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-passport-series.md)
