# Eccentric Storage Solutions This Abstract Cabinetry is Highly Graphic and Gravity-Defying By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-04-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstract-cabinet References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/family-quirky-cabinets-magenta-workshop/) & [magentaworkshop](http://www.magentaworkshop.com/projectsnew/) What you'll realize as you consider these truly [abstract cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weaver-cabinet) is that you don't need straight shelves to store all of your possessions. If you really think about it, level ledges are not necessarily ideal for tall and slender items like books and DVDs, and nor are they a requirement for objects without rigid bases. Designers can exercise a broader sense of creativity, even within an industry where standardized furnishings are prevalent and popular. The thing is, ordinary can get boring. Magenta Workshop thus thought outside the box once again to develop a series of quirky cubbies that seem impossibly balanced with asymmetric and irregular components. People searching for a more artistic and eye-catching way to stash a variety of their personal items will find functionality and great deal of fun with these wacky shapes, vivid colors and captivating patterns. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Abstract Storage Solutions:** Innovative designers are creating artistic and eye-catching storage options that go beyond traditional shelves and offer unique storage solutions for personal items. - **Quirky Cubbies:** Designers are developing asymmetric and irregular cubbies that challenge the conventional norms of balance and provide a playful and fun way to store personal items. - **Vivid Colors and Captivating Patterns:** The use of bold and vibrant colors, along with captivating patterns, in storage design offers an opportunity for creating visually appealing storage solutions that stand out. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The unconventional and artistic approach to storage design presents disruptive innovation opportunities within the furniture industry to offer unique and creative storage solutions. - **Interior Design:** Innovative storage designs with quirky shapes and patterns provide opportunities for interior designers to create visually striking and functional spaces. - **Home Decor:** The introduction of abstract and visually appealing storage options opens up possibilities for disruptive innovation within the home decor industry, catering to customers seeking unconventional storage solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Funky Colorful Storage Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorful-storage-units.md) - [Playful Rotating Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giralot-rotating-storage.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Playful Storage Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets.md)
