# Sleekly Covered Rockers The Abraham Rocking Chair by Authentics Looks Tightly Cocooned By Meghan Young | Published 2014-02-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abraham-rocking-chair References: [deconiche](http://www.deconiche.com/abraham-rocking-chair-authentics/) & [authentics.de](http://www.authentics.de/) The Abraham Rocking Chair forgoes a reliance on the past by introducing a rather [futuristic aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polarisgo-chair). Of course, it could be likened to a [cocooned traditional rocker](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-introvert-chair), one that has been left in an attic for far too long. Yet the sleek lines and X-shaped motif is hard to ignore. It could easily be a piece of furniture made for Professor Xavier of the X-Men. Designed by Authentics, a design company based in Germany, the Abraham Rocking Chair is not made out of wood, but a [steel frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-limbo-chair) that has been completely covered in a durable and flexible material. This material not only gives it a modern appearance, but also a heightened level of physical comfort. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Futuristic Furniture Design:** There is an opportunity for furniture companies to experiment with sleek and modern designs that can entice a younger and more design-focused clientele. - **Innovative Use of Materials:** There is an opportunity for materials science companies to partner with furniture designers to explore new and flexible materials that can replace traditional furniture materials such as wood. - **Comfort-focused Design:** There is an opportunity for furniture designers to prioritize the physical comfort of furniture in addition to aesthetics. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Furniture companies can benefit from exploring futuristic designs, innovative materials and more comfortable furniture options. - **Materials Science:** Materials science companies can partner with furniture designers to develop new, durable and flexible materials to enhance the visual and physical appeal of furniture. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can educate their clients about modern and innovative furniture designs that can be used to create unique and comfortable living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Otherworldly Themed Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-rocking.md) - [Modernized Rocking Chair Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nodding-chair.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-rocking-chair.md) - [Geometric Rocking Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oval-rocking-chair.md) - [Sleek Structural Rocking Horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-horse-chair.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Motion Blur-Inspired Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fast-rocking-chair.md) - [Wooden Lounge Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nice-chair.md) - [Circular Modernist Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerogravity-chair.md)
