Artist ABOVE's Sticks and Stones mural makes miniscule mottos mighty. This [gigantic installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape) is 200-feet long and resides on a [blank strip of concrete wall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humanise-wall). The installation uses mixed media to spell out a traditional motto which has been modernly revised: "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will always save me." ABOVE ironically fell during the construction of the piece, suffering a concussion and breaking bones, but the determination to complete these words *did* save him! Along with the help of a team of local artists, ABOVE constructed this mighty mural using mediums such as wooden planks, spray paint, sticks and patterned paper. ABOVE's Sticks and Stones mural has made an ordinary wall wonderfully inspirational. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Viral](https://www.trendhunter.com/viral) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Gigantic Art Installations:** Opportunities to create large-scale artworks that inspire and captivate audiences. - **Creative Use of Mixed Media:** Potential for combining different artistic materials and techniques to create unique and visually striking pieces. - **Reimagining Traditional Mottoes:** Exploring the reinterpretation of familiar sayings to convey new meanings and perspectives. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Innovative approaches to public art installations and creative expression. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Leveraging large-scale murals and artworks to attract visitors and enhance the visual appeal of destinations. - **Event Production:** Integrating large artworks as focal points or backdrops for events to create immersive and memorable experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Post-Pandemic Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakwena-maciver.md) - [Creative Sun Safety Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sun-safety-installation.md) - [Urban Text Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peace-love-joy.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Street Art-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/met-rooftop.md) - [Tree-Integrated Mysterious Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-mural.md) - [Enigmatic Graffiti Incidents](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigmatic-graffiti.md) - [Statement Wall Covering Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-muro.md) - [Confectionary Graffiti Murals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jolly-rancher-gummie.md)
