# Transformer Benches German Designer Jorn Kiefer Provides a Fresh New Twist To a Sedentary Staple By Elaine Zlotkowski | Published 2009-03-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/about-a-bench-german-designer-jorn-kiefer-provides-a-fresh-new-twist-to-a-s References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/profile/Joern-Kiefer.html) & [guerrillanow](http://www.guerrillanow.com) Guerrilla Now designer, Jorn Kiefer, has domesticated benches… and they look better than ever. This easily [adjustable bench](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ritfit-gator-3sectio) combines comfort and function with one-of-a kind style. According to [Design Spotter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gardiners-sofa), “the [modular adjustment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-bench) leaves big clearance in individual seat variations to the user,” which means you can customize your bench according to mood, preference, or whim. No strings attached. Plus, with the simple twist of a clutch screw, you have the option of going with or without an armrest. This piece is perfect if you want to utilize your furniture to the fullest (I mean, when was the last time you used your futon to bench press?), or if you just want to make a statement and spice up your domestic bliss. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modular Furniture:** The ability to customize furniture according to individual preferences presents opportunities for personalized home decor. - **Adjustable Seating:** Flexible seating options that can be easily adjusted to different comfort levels can enhance user experience and ergonomic support. - **Multi-functional Design:** Furniture that serves multiple purposes and can be transformed to meet different needs allows for efficient space utilization. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Innovative bench designs present opportunities for creating modular, adjustable, and multi-functional furniture pieces. - **Interior Design:** Designers can leverage modular and adjustable seating options to create unique and customizable living spaces for clients. - **Home Decor Retail:** Retailers can introduce customizable and transformable furniture to cater to the growing demand for personalized home decor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contemporary Customization Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-benches.md) - [Angular Transforming Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimus-furniture.md) - [Versatile Modular Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transformer-couch-20.md) - [Muscle Loss-Combating Playground Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playground-bench.md) - [Dual-Seated Plate Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/move-a-little-bit-further.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Threshold Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torii.md) - [Modular Outdoor Space Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-public-bench.md) - [Bold Motion Bench Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wheelbench-krllermller-edition.md)
