# Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Chargers The ABB 'Terra 360' EV Charger Offers 62-Miles in Minutes By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2021-10-05 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abb-terra-360 References: [newatlas](https://newatlas.com/automotive/worlds-fastest-ev-charger-100-km-range-three-minutes/) & [new.abb](https://new.abb.com/news/detail/82941/abb-launches-the-worlds-fastest-electric-car-charger) One of the biggest hurdles for electric vehicle (EV) adoption remains charging speed, but the ABB 'Terra 360' EV charger is poised to help change this with a functionality that would drastically reduce the time needed to power up a car. The charger is capable of providing a vehicle with an additional 62-miles of driving range in just three-minutes with the ability to fully charge it up in around 15-minutes. The unit looks like a traditional gas pump with a total of four ports and 16-foot cables that can be used to power up to [four electric vehicles at once](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ev-charging-solution) at a rate of 90 kW, while a single car could be charged at a rate of 360 kW. The ABB 'Terra 360' EV charger was explained further by President of ABB’s E-mobility Division Frank Muehlon who said, "With governments around the world writing public policy that favors electric vehicles and charging networks to combat climate change, the demand for [EV charging infrastructure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fastcharging-ev-stations), especially [charging stations that are fast](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/culver-zero-60), convenient and easy to operate is higher than ever. The Terra 360, with charging options that fit a variety of needs, is the key to fulfilling that demand and accelerating e-mobility adoption globally.” Image Credit: ABB ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 10% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Transportation](https://www.trendhunter.com/transportation) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Rapid Charging Technology:** Developing ultra-fast charging capabilities is a key trend to increase EV adoption and address charging speed concerns. - **Multi-vehicle Charging Stations:** The trend of building EV charging stations with multiple ports can improve efficiency, reduce wait times, and attract more EV drivers. - **Demand for Convenient Charging:** There is a trend of increasing demand for charging stations that are fast, easy to operate, and well-located to encourage more widespread adoption of EVs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Electric Vehicle Infrastructure:** Companies involved in building electric vehicle charging infrastructure can take advantage of rapid charging technology to offer faster and more convenient charging options to attract more customers. - **Auto-manufacturing:** Auto-makers that invest in developing and producing electric cars that can quickly charge using ultra-fast charging technology can gain a competitive advantage in an evolving market. - **Energy Utilities:** Energy Utilities can take advantage of the trend towards multi-vehicle charging stations to provide more efficient, cost-effective charging infrastructure to customers, and generate new revenue streams. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Fast Charging Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/byd.md) - [12-Minute EV Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allinone-aio-dc-fast-charger.md) - [Hyper-Speed Charging Electric Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nyobolt-concept-ev.md) - [Hyper-Fast Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charging-station-1.md) - [Fast-Charging EV Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/10-minute-charge-electric.md) - [All-in-One EV Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allinone-ev-charger.md) - [Ultra-Fast EV Charging Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultrafast-charging-systems.md) - [Quick-Charge EV Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ev-battery.md) - [App-Connected EV Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shockflo-s1.md)
