The home features a partially covered balcony with a [Japanese soaking tub](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate), providing a unique and luxurious outdoor space. The sloping roof adds an architectural element while also sheltering the balcony. The exterior is clad in [old historical buff yellow brick](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-1), with varying banded coursing patterns that add texture and visual interest. The front entry and third-floor deck are carved from brick with contrasting black sintered stone panels, creating a striking facade. The interior boasts a casual and affordable palette of natural materials, including recycled strip plank wood flooring, Baltic birch paneling, terrazzo, and concrete, for an "anti-museum" aesthetic. By utilizing a small and uniquely shaped lot, Batay-Csorba Architects demonstrates the potential for maximizing real estate value in urban areas where space is at a premium. This approach can attract clients looking to make the most out of limited space, ultimately driving business growth and profitability for the firm. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 19% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Maximizing Real Estate Value:** Batay-Csorba Architects demonstrates the potential for maximizing real estate value in urban areas where space is at a premium. - **Creating Unique Outdoor Spaces:** The home features a partially covered balcony with a Japanese soaking tub, providing a unique and luxurious outdoor space. - **Utilizing Natural Materials:** The interior boasts a casual and affordable palette of natural materials, including recycled strip plank wood flooring, Baltic birch paneling, terrazzo, and concrete, for an 'anti-museum' aesthetic. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Batay-Csorba Architects showcases innovative designs for compact and modern homes, demonstrating the potential for growth in the architecture industry. - **Real Estate:** The focus on maximizing real estate value in urban areas can drive growth and profitability in the real estate industry. - **Interior Design:** The use of natural materials and the creation of unique outdoor spaces inspire new design possibilities in the interior design industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Precisely Designed Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baby-point.md) - [Nature-Merging Geometric Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neville-park-residence.md) - [Small Footprint Brick Bungalows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haringey-brick-bungalow.md) - [Minimal Philosophy Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-hill-residence.md) - [Compact Corner Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modus-architect.md) - [Square Structural Canadian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canvas-house.md) - [Meadow-Overlooking Sleek Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studioac-1.md) - [Textured Brick London Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nw10.md) - [Juxtaposing Retro Cottage Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drew-mandel-architects.md)
