This walkway, an installation designed by Tetsuo Kondo Architects, is made of 95 metres of steel tubes. The structure of the tubed walkway relies on the forest; the [tubes rest against tree trunks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house) so that there is no need for columns or other support beams. The designers describe the experience as one that allows people to experience the forest from a closer perspective -- near the branches and leaves, rather than from the ground and looking up at the trees. According to Dezeen, the installation is part of the LIFT11 festival, which features installations in the city's public places for the [European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/european-space-agency-1). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Tree-enveloping Walkways:** Opportunity to design more immersive installations and artworks that enhance sensory experiences with nature. - **Nature-integrated Architecture:** Opportunity to create sustainable buildings that work in harmony with the natural environment. - **Vertical Forests:** Opportunity to design and build buildings that incorporate trees and greenery, contributing to improved air quality and biodiversity. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Installation Design:** Opportunity to create immersive installations and artworks that give people the chance to experience nature in novel ways. - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunity to design and construct buildings that lessen their impact on the environment and promote a more eco-friendly lifestyle. - **Urban Planning and Development:** Opportunity to plan and develop cities and communities that prioritize sustainability, biodiversity, and green spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Elevated Timber Treehouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-camp.md) - [Forested Residential Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-bath.md) - [Slatted Steel Treehouse Surroundings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sawmill-treehouse.md) - [Hidden Garden Timber Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-room-around-a-tree.md) - [Woodland Arts Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waterhouseoyama.md) - [Red Aluminum Walkway Periscopes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunset-hammock.md) - [Mangrove Forest-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/once-upon-a-forest.md) - [Bamboo Forest Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-rainforest-pavilion.md) - [Elevated Park Nature Lookouts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amager-nature-park.md)
