When one says that they want to get some fresh air, that typically means stepping oustide, but A House in Trees tries to create [fresh air indoors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/he-winter-garden). Tu Son, like many towns in Vietnam, is industrializing incredibly quickly. One of the unfortunate byproducts of this rapid growth is a tremendous amount of smog. As such, A House in Trees is designed specifically to combat these bilious clouds. The project's name is an inversion of its actual concept -- the family home really describes [trees in a house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house). Nguyen Khac Phuoc Architects, the team behind the house, achieved this tree-filled interior by building "voids" into the structure. At two points throughout the house are open spaces filled with trees, bringing an outdoor feel indoors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Eco Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/ecoarchitecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Indoor Greenery:** Designing indoor spaces that incorporate natural plantlife to combat the effects of pollution. - **Vertical Gardening:** Utilizing vertical spaces to construct gardens within urban environments for improved air quality. - **Eco-friendly Architecture:** Creating sustainable and health-promoting living spaces through innovative architectural design and green technology. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Opportunities to create new and innovative building designs that prioritize environmental health and sustainability. - **Interiors:** Developing and creating designs that incorporate natural elements and plantlife to promote a healthier living environment. - **Environmental Technology:** Developing technology to improve air quality and promote healthier living spaces in rapidly industrializing regions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Repurposed Wooden Shoreside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-house-by-the-lake.md) - [Greenery-Surrounding Lush Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nest-house-1.md) - [Green Garden-Surrounding Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillside-house-1.md) - [Light-Filled City Center Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/secret-garden-2.md) - [Modern Vietnamese Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tien-giang-house.md) - [Open-Air Perforated Concrete Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anchor-house.md) - [Urban Brick Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terracotta-breath.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Multifunctional Vietnamese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-for-young-families.md)
