# Music-Inspired Lamps The Piano Light Pays Homage to One of History's Most Beloved Instruments By Frank Luanda | Published 2012-06-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-homage-to-the-worlds-greatest-musical-instrument References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/06/15/play-with-piano-lights/) & [oneartiststudio](http://www.oneartiststudio.com/service.html) Meet the Piano Light, a striking yet subtle homage to one of history's most beloved musical instruments. This chic [desktop lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp) was created by OneArtist Studio, a group of designers who aim to tell "emotional stories" with their creations. The Piano Light tells its story in whispers, in a subtle, if non-obtrusive manner. Its neutral colors allow it to blend into almost any decor. Made of wooden and metal components, the [foldable lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp) adjusts in height and extends as well. Its compact design allows for it to be mounted onto a wall. Its inspiration becomes apparent when the lamp is folded and not in use, as it is made to resemble the [keys of a piano](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-and-stone-piano-v2). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 36% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Musically-inspired Decor:** Opportunity for designers to create other home decor products based on musical instruments. - **Foldable Lighting:** Innovative opportunity to create more compact and versatile lighting fixtures. - **Subtle Homage:** A trend towards more understated designs that evoke strong emotional reactions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to create unique decor pieces that combine form and function. - **Lighting:** Opportunity to tap into a market for unique and innovative lighting options. - **Music:** Opportunity for music-related businesses to expand their product offerings beyond instruments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Instrument-Inspired Wall Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/louis-collection-by-sara-schoenberger.md) - [Retro Vinyl Record-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gramophone-lamp.md) - [Music-Inspired Glass Blown Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miles-pendant.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Gothic Wooden Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gothic-table-lamp.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Art Pianos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-and-stone-piano-v2.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md)
