# Levitating Door Levers The Orbit Door Handle by Diego Amadei Seems to Float By Diego Amadei | Published 2011-06-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Orbit-Handle-Design-Architecture-Amadei References: [diegoamadeirbonmade](http://diegoamadei.carbonmade.com/projects/3181844#1) & [diegoamadeirbonmade](http://diegoamadei.carbonmade.com/) Orbit is the first concept for an orbital handle developed by Diego Amadei. The project stems from a new connotation of the classic [lever handle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqara-smart-lock-u300) defined just by a simple and decided design. Its design is characterized by a lever made of a bent metal rod that orbits like a star in the sky around a central hub that allows the rotation by activating the opening mechanism. The clean and essential shape creates a soft, slight silhouette that seems to float around the cover. Additionally, there is a fixed cover up on the pivot pin that complements the design of the handle and hides the system of rotation and recessed rose. The cover can also be customized with logos or door numbers for a “contract” use and texturized with the same tones or wood essences of the door. The same concept can be applied to a [push handle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/belt-handle). In this case, the fixed cover also allows the accommodation of the lock, giving a simple and stylish look to the door and completing the orbit product range. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Levitating Door Handles:** Opportunity for creating innovative and eye-catching door handle designs that appear to float. - **Minimalist Design:** Opportunity for developing sleek and clean door handle designs that create a soft and subtle silhouette. - **Customizable Door Handles:** Opportunity to personalize door handles with logos, door numbers, and textures for a contract or residential use. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate levitating door handles into their projects for a unique and modern touch. - **Home Improvement:** Opportunity for home improvement stores to offer a range of levitating door handle designs to customers looking for stylish and innovative solutions. - **Custom Door Manufacturing:** Opportunity for door manufacturers to create customizable door handles with various textures, colors, and personalized elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Domed Door Knob Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/h03-knob-on-half-moon.md) - [Sculptural Door Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edge-door-handle.md) - [Interior Push-Pull Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anylock-milda.md) - [Innovative Customizable Door Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-door-system.md) - [Hands-Free Door Handle Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/safe-lever-door-opener.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Modern Seating Centerpieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-chair.md) - [Levitating Dynamic Ring Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitos.md) - [Hands-Free Home Doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milda-evolve-door.md)
