# Sunset-Inspired Shelving Units The 'Horizon Shelves' Offer a More Dynamic Design Alternative By Ell Smith | Published 2017-08-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Horizon-Shelves References: [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/52323347/Horizon-Shelves?tracking_source=curated_galleries_list) & [pavelvetrov](http://www.pavelvetrov.com/) Storage is a valuable home staple, but in many modern households, [wall-mounted shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf) can sometimes serve as mundane fixtures that add nothing to an interior's aesthetic -- an issue that the 'Horizon Shelves' aim to combat. To do this, designer Pavel Vetrov crafted the [unique shelving units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/original-modern-shelving) by using strong and stable fixtures, which utilize colors that are inspired by the setting sun. The collection features multiple shelves which can be used singularly, however when arranged in groups, the item's true beauty becomes apparent. The dynamic color palette of bold yellows, reds, blues, purples, grays and blacks are reminiscent of the beautiful color transformation that the sky goes through each evening. This sunset-inspired collection features each phase of the process, serving as a conversation starter in one's home while allowing for [complete customization](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/center-center-storage). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Colorful Shelving Units:** Create shelving units with dynamic and colorful designs inspired by nature. - **Customizable Storage Solutions:** Develop storage solutions that allow for complete customization to suit individual preferences. - **Aesthetic-focused Home Decor:** Design home decor items that not only serve a functional purpose but also enhance the overall aesthetic of a space. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Incorporate vibrant and nature-inspired designs into shelving units and other furniture pieces. - **Interior Design:** Integrate customizable storage solutions into interior design plans to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. - **Home Decor Retail:** Curate and offer a range of aesthetically pleasing home decor items that can be personalized to fit individual styles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Mobile Illuminating Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/for-a-fleeting-moment.md) - [Pink Tonal Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reisinger-pink.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Japanese Woodwork-Inspired Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/altitude-shelving.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Mounted Colorful Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledge-shelf.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md)
