# Number-Inspired Table Lamps The 8light by Dongsung Jung is Conveniently Curvaceous By Meghan Young | Published 2013-07-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/8light-by-dongsung-jung References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/07/16/illumin8/) & [jungdongsung](http://www.jungdongsung.com/) The 8light by Dongsung Jung, an industrial designer based in Seoul, South Korea, was inspired by the number eight, hence its name. Taking on its curvaceous form, the table lamp is not only a fun design, but also a practical one. The base and light source swivel easily and conveniently for different needs. Impressively, it also boasts a touch screen that connects to smartphones for various uses. Perfect for the office or bedroom, the 8light by Dongsung Jung has a slim profile that might be more suited to modern setting but can also complement traditional ones as well. In fact, when the discs are positioned horizontally, the simple silhouette of the light almost looks like the outline of a contemporary hourglass. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Number-inspired Table Lamps:** Opportunity for innovative and functional design inspired by numbers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Industrial Design:** Incorporating number-inspired designs into various products for enhanced functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Smart Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindduo-2.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Stackable Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/module-table-lamp.md) - [Traditional Tower-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pagoda-lamp.md) - [Sophisticated Productivity Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/benq-mindduo-2-table-lamp.md) - [Elegant Compact Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-table-light.md) - [Geometric Nostalgic Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handmaid-table-lamp.md) - [Interactive Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tap-tap-table-lamp.md) - [Architecturally Elegant Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp.md)
