Despite the possibilities that additive manufacturing presents across all industries, [3D printing waste](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-printed-packaging-mold) seems to be an issue that is going overlooked. To remedy this, Italian designer Marina Ceccolini aims to make what's old new again with Agridust. Agridust is a material that is made with [food scraps and compost](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/echo-pads)—including household items like shells, peanuts, tomato skins, citrus peels and coffee grounds.

Although the dense material can be used to shape packaging vessels, when used with an extruder, this non-toxic and biodegradable material also becomes suited for 3D printing. As well as cutting down on the amount of [plastic filament](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natnov-bioscience) that will go to waste during prototyping, this is also an effective way to reduce the monetary and environmental costs that come with dumping unwanted creations into a landfill.
