# 3D Brain Scan Art The Neurosky is Being Used with a 3D Printer to Turn 3D Brain Scans into Art By Eric Westcott | Published 2014-03-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-brain-scan References: [theverge](http://www.theverge.com/2014/3/12/5496656/mental-fabrications-3d-printed-brain-scans-art) & [ionarch](http://www.ionarch.com/) Artist Ion Popian is using an EEG headset and a 3D printer to create art out of your 3D brain scan. The scans are taken while you are wearing a Neurosky EEG headset and having scans of your brain waves be scanned while you watch videos. The project is titled 'Mental Fabrications,' which is a fitting title because you are literally fabricating mental patterns. This process allows Popian the ability to display [different emotions as works of art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/memoreel). Having brain waves printed in 3D essentially lets you be able to hold your emotions in your hands. You will be able to see when you felt most relaxed or on edge while listening to music or looking at different images. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Live Arts](https://www.trendhunter.com/livearts) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **3D Brain Scan Art:** Creating art from 3D brain scans using EEG headsets and 3D printers ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists and designers to explore new mediums and create unique pieces using cutting-edge technology - **Healthcare:** Applications of EEG headsets and 3D printing in healthcare for personalized treatment plans and medical education - **Technology:** Advancements in 3D printing and brain imaging technology for consumer use in entertainment and recreation ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Brainwave-Connected Tech Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/myndplay-myndhub.md) - [Brainwave-Monitoring Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mw75-neuro.md) - [Brainwave-Tracking Headbands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muse-s-athena.md) - [AI-Powered Sleep Headsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frenz-brainband.md) - [Neurotechnology Gaming Headsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neurable-x-hyperx.md) - [Brain Tracking Headphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mw75-neuro-lt.md) - [Brain Activity-Focused Research Partnerships](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neurable1.md) - [Brain-Interfacing Gaming Headsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyperx-eeg-headset.md) - [Direct-to-Consumer Brain Health Scans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brain-health-scan.md)
