# Glass Pendant Planters The 38 Series by Omer Arbel is Part Pot, Part Lamp By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/38-series-by-omer-arbel References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1672537/gorgeous-glass-pendants-that-double-as-planters) & [omerarbel](http://www.omerarbel.com/) The 38 Series by Omer Arbel, the creative director of multi-disciplinary design firm [Bocci](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendant-lamp1), which is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is a collection of whimsical light fixtures. As though plucked from the home of a forest nymph, each [glass pendant](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upglas-collection) has foliage sprouting from it. That is because they also double as [suspended planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-4). At once refreshing and illuminating, the lights bring a touch of the outdoors inside. Boasting either four or six cavities, the 38 Series by Omer Arbel divvies them up between the plants and lights. Like small cratered moons, the designs appear to orbit the ceiling. Although otherworldly, they are also beautifully modern in their minimalist aesthetic. Connected in clusters via copper wiring, the 38 Series of lamps will take people's breath away. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Indoor Greenery:** The integration of potted plants within lighting fixtures as seen in the 38 Series by Omer Arbel presents an opportunity for disrupting the traditional home decor market with a focus on integrating nature indoors. - **Multi-functionality:** Creating multi-functional designs, as seen in the 38 Series by Omer Arbel, that can serve dual purposes in an aesthetically pleasing way can disrupt the home decor and lighting industries by catering to consumers looking to maximize their living spaces. - **Minimalist Aesthetic:** The minimalist aesthetic of the 38 Series by Omer Arbel presents an opportunity for disruption in the lighting industry by catering to consumers who prefer clean and uncomplicated design styles. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** The integration of indoor greenery within lighting fixtures, as seen in the 38 Series by Omer Arbel, can disrupt the traditional home decor market by offering consumers a unique and functional product. - **Lighting:** Creating multi-functional lighting fixtures, as seen in the 38 Series by Omer Arbel, can disrupt the lighting industry by catering to consumers who want to maximize their living space while still maintaining aesthetically pleasing design. - **Furniture:** Designing furniture pieces with multi-functional purposes, similar to the 38 Series by Omer Arbel, can disrupt the furniture industry by offering consumers versatile and practical home decor options that can adapt to different needs and spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Plant-Inspired Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier.md) - [Exquisite Textured Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendant-lamp1.md) - [Demure Dual-Function Hanging Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-fixture-planter.md) - [Spontaneity-Inspired Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-lighting-designs.md) - [Plant Pod-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-inspired-pendant-light.md) - [Petal-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-wall-light.md) - [Mouth-Blown Glass Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-pendant-light.md) - [Blooming Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloome.md) - [Glassmaking Tubular Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flare-light.md)
