Instead of pedalling, you simply step up and down, and with each step the bike moves forward. "Like most bicycles it operates by [sprockets and a chain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clip-electric-motor), but instead of [pedals and a crank mechanism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bromptons-g-line) you'll find a frame mounted lever style crank that has a [skateboard-like platform](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steptastic) mounted on top of it. Beneath is a standard sprocket with a rotating pin wheel that fits into a track on the underside of the aforementioned frame mounted lever." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 75% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Stepcycle Transportation:** The development of alternative modes of human-powered transportation such as stepcycles could disrupt the traditional bicycle market. - **Lever-driven Mechanisms:** Innovations in lever-driven mechanisms like the ones used in stepcycle technology could find applications in other industries like manufacturing and construction. - **Fitness Equipment:** The incorporation of stepcycle technology into fitness equipment could provide a new wave of innovation in the fitness industry. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Bicycle Manufacturing:** Bicycle manufacturers could incorporate the unique technology behind the stepcycle into their existing product lines to create a new form of transportation. - **Fitness Equipment Manufacturing:** Fitness equipment manufacturers can use the idea of the stepcycle to create innovative fitness equipment for the health and wellness market. - **Construction Equipment Manufacturing:** Stepcycle's lever-driven mechanism can be utilized by manufacturers in the construction industry to create innovative equipment that allows for more fluid movement and greater control. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tread-Wheel Geometric Bicycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-q.md) - [Accessible Step-Through E-Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lime-3.md) - [Slipper Wheel-Less Bicycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slipper-bicycle.md) - [Drivetrain-Devoid Concept EBikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concept-ebike.md) - [Rowing-Style Recumbent Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/varibike-extreme.md) - [Compact Foldable City Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-cycle.md) - [Futuristic Single-Wheel Bicycles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-infinity-bike.md) - [Robust Electric Kick Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-stand-bike.md) - [Long-Range Electric Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stromer-st7-speed-pedelec.md)
