# 3 Eco Chic Wastebins Trash with Class By Bianca | Published 2008-03-16 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3-eco-chic-wastebins-trash-with-class References: [nytimes](http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2008/03/13/garden/0313-SHOP_3.html) Want to offset the environmental damage you do through your trash? One quick and easy way is with one of [Urban Outfitters' wastebaskets of recycled tin cans](http://www.urbanoutfitters.com). The 12" high bins are protected with rubber bottoms so you don't have to worry about the eco-chic container scratching your floors. As they're made of individual recycled cans, each has a different pattern. The **[Bin Bin](http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2008/03/13/garden/0313-SHOP_6.html)**, the second garbage bin featured in the gallery, looks like a brown, crumbled paper bag, but is actually made of polyethylene. That's a whole lot more environmentally friendly but looks just as cool. Everyone produces trash, most of us too much, so until we find a fix, [storage bins for garbage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trash-receptacles) are still a necessity. It's an everyday normal item that everyone has, but in a world where elements of design can be added to anything, why not get a quirky can that speaks to your design interests? The Bin Bin is one neat way to add class to your trash. The brown looks most like a paper bag, but it also comes in red, black and white. The wastebaskets can be bought at UnicaHome.com for $52. The **[Clothespin waste basket](http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2008/03/13/garden/0313-SHOP_8.html)** is sure to generate a lot of attention, but I can't imagine it would stay clean long. Four clothespins hold up a bag of our choice, be it plastic, paper or if you're really environmentally conscious, cloth. The wooden stand sells for $18 at [mxyplyzyk.com](http://www.mxyplyzyk.com). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Recycled Wastebaskets:** Creating wastebaskets from recycled materials presents an opportunity for eco-conscious consumers to offset environmental damage. - **Eco-chic Containers:** Designing stylish and environmentally friendly waste containers offers an opportunity to merge aesthetics with sustainability. - **Quirky Trash Storage:** Developing unique and unconventional trash storage options allows individuals to express their design interests through everyday items. ### Where This Applies - **Environmental Sustainability:** Incorporating recycled materials into wastebaskets can promote sustainability and reduce waste in the environmental sector. - **Interior Design:** The merging of aesthetics and sustainable design in waste containers provides a disruptive opportunity in the interior design industry. - **E-commerce (home Goods):** Selling eco-chic wastebaskets online presents an opportunity for the e-commerce industry, particularly in the home goods category. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainably Constructed Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubbish-bin.md) - [Tipping Trash Can Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/niko-trash-bin.md) - [Modular Organization Garbage Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-garbage-bins.md) - [Customizable Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totem-compact-unit.md) - [Versatile Egg-Shaped Waste Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextgen-waste-bin.md) - [Chic Kitchen Compost Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simplehuman.md) - [Rodent-Preventative Trash Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/group-project.md) - [Modular Trash Organization Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sortmate-trash-cans.md) - [Retro-Style Home Decor Items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vipp-holgers-beige-collection.md)
