The vehicle is equipped with a two-motor drive unit and an 18.4-KiloWatt lithium-ion battery. The battery's higher capacity means that it functions with fewer cells, 192 compared to 288 in the previous vehicle. The drive motors offer 149 horsepower and 294 pounds-feet of torque. The 2016 Volt is set to go on sale in the second half of 2015.
