Yet there is more to the competition than simply capturing a picturesque landscape. When judging the 2014 Velux Lovers of Light competition, Tom Dyckhoff, writer, broadcaster and member of the judging panel, said, "As well as considering the composition and technical ability of each photograph, we also looked for emotion and feeling in each of the entries. We wanted to choose entrants who we felt had truly embraced and been inspired by natural light.” ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Embracing Natural Light:** Harnessing natural light in innovative ways can create stunning landscapes and evoke emotions. - **Capturing Dramatic Shadows:** Utilizing the interplay between light and shadows can add depth and intrigue to photographs. - **Exploring Light Phenomena:** Highlighting unique light phenomena such as rainbows can create visually stunning landscape images. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography:** Incorporating natural light techniques in photography can lead to captivating visual content. - **Architecture:** Incorporating natural light into building design can enhance the aesthetics and create a harmonious environment. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Utilizing natural light to showcase landscapes and create immersive experiences can attract tourists and enhance visitor satisfaction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Window-Emulating Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/window-chronicles.md) - [Emotional Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection.md) - [Mindful Illumination Holiday Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/embracing-light.md) - [Futuristic Immersive Lighting Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immersive-lighting-experience.md) - [Physics-Based Artful Light Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aura-collection-1.md) - [Natural Light-Centric Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/huron-house.md) - [Ethereal Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peter-kovacsy.md) - [Immersive Light Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch.md) - [Natural Light-Based Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-voids.md)
