[Qantas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capacious-airline-seats) has completed a 19-hour flight from New York to Sydney. The trip was a first for the aviation industry, and it was done to study the limits of air travel and any potential health effects that could arise due to extended air time.

The study was interested in the effects a 19-hour flight would have on a pilot's brain waves, including melatonin, and general alertness. For the passengers, the focus of the flight was on the efficacy of anti-jetlag measures, including [cabin lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/in-search-of-sleep), meals, and exercises.

Some findings from the flight are already apparent, leaving the lights on or six hours during the flight helped passengers acclimate to the conditions in Sydney.
