# Vintage Sphere-Like Bars The 1920s German Light Bulb Voltage Tester Bar Looks Like a War Machine By Meghan Young | Published 2013-07-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1920s-german-light-bulb-voltage-tester-bar References: [psfk](http://www.psfk.com/2013/07/light-bulb-tester-bar-cart.html) & [restorationhardware](http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod2460908&categoryId=search) The 1920s German Light Bulb Voltage Tester Bar is just what the name suggests. It is a [bar-cart for the home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rolly-bar-cart) that has been inspired by an early 20th-century tester salvaged from a factory. Although it looks more like a war machine of some sort, especially when closed, it is an innocent enough creation. Unless, of course, people decide to party a little too hard around it. Created by [Restoration Hardware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/byron-reeded-collection), the 1920s German Light Bulb Voltage Tester Bar boasts a unique spherical shape that houses spirits, wine bottles and the hanging glassware to drink them from. Weighing in at a whopping 265 pounds, it is made out of cast iron, which gives the antiqued finish an even more authentic feel. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Vintage Bars:** The trend towards vintage or antique-inspired bars and bar carts for the home. - **Spherical Design:** The trend towards unique and spherical design in bar carts and home decor. - **Industrial Aesthetics:** The trend towards incorporating salvaged industrial materials and finishes into home furnishings and decor. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Furnishings and Decor:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the home furnishings and decor industry by incorporating unique and salvage-inspired designs. - **Beverage and Hospitality:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the beverage and hospitality industry by incorporating unique and visually appealing bar carts and serving vessels. - **Vintage and Antique Retail:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the vintage and antique retail industry by sourcing and selling unique and rare industrial salvaged pieces for use in the home or commercial spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro App-Controlled Lava Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appcontrolled-lava-lamp.md) - [Vintage Aesthetic Practical Flashlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barebones.md) - [All-in-One Timber Bar Carts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moba-drinks-trolley.md) - [Luxurious Bar Carts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxurious-bar-cart.md) - [Vintage-Inspired Flashlight Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barebones-edison-light-stick.md) - [Quirky Common Item Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-lamp-lighter.md) - [Tavern-Style Glassware Showrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bobo.md) - [Beer Branded Leg Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miller-high-life-leg-lamp-beer-tower.md) - [Solid Wood Bar Carts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solid-wood-bar-cart.md)
