The 138 skydivers fell from the sky at speeds up to 220 miles per hour the other day and formed together to create a [giant snowflake in the sky](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/very-ralph-documentary). Judges from the Federation Aeronautique Internationale were there to judge the stunt. Performed just over Ottawa, Illinois, 138 certified skydivers attempted to create the formation 15 times over the span of three days, and were finally successful on Friday evening. The previous record to break consisted of 108 skydivers back in 2009. An organizer and Skydive Chicago owner had this to say about the stunt, "There was a lot of emotion and a lot of days where we should have got it. But we dug down deep and stuck at it." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.4/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Viral](https://www.trendhunter.com/viral) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Aerial Stunts:** There is an opportunity to innovate in the field of aerial stunts by utilizing advancements in technology and training techniques to push the limits of what is possible with human beings in mid-air performances. - **Extreme Sports:** The popularity of extreme sports such as skydiving and base jumping presents an opportunity for businesses to cater to the growing demand for unique and adrenaline-fueled experiences. - **Record-breaking Attempts:** As more individuals and groups attempt to break world records, there are opportunities for products and services that support these endeavors such as equipment, training, and logistics for record-breaking attempts. ### Where This Applies - **Skydiving and Parachuting:** There is a market for businesses offering skydiving and parachuting experiences to thrill-seekers, as well as offering training programs and certification for those looking to pursue these activities as a career. - **Extreme Sports Equipment:** There is an opportunity for businesses that manufacture and sell equipment specifically designed for extreme sports such as skydiving, base jumping, and other adrenaline-fueled activities. - **Event Management:** As record-breaking attempts become more popular, there is an opportunity for businesses that specialize in event management to provide logistical support and planning to these ambitious projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Record-Breaking Skate Megaramps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-bulls-building-drop.md) - [Record-Breaking Cheese Pulls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheese-pull.md) - [Helicopter-Towed Digital Screens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ninja-gaiden-4.md) - [Massive Record-Breaking Pizzas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worlds-largest-pizza.md) - [Record-Breaking Cheesecakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/largest-cheesecake.md) - [Record-Breaking Electric Auto Drifts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gac-group.md) - [Record-Breaking Gummy Mosaics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gummy-candy-mosaic.md) - [Record-Breaking Iced Coffees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worlds-largest-iced-latte.md) - [Powerfully Propelled VTOL Drones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vtol-drone.md)
