# Little Pitched Illuminators The 001 Task Lamp Embodies Formal Simplicity and Cost-Effectiveness By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-02-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/001-task-lamp References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2014/02/StudioMK-001-Task.html) & [designstudiomk](http://designstudiomk.com) A mere bare lightbulb will do the trick to illuminate a room, but a much improved atmosphere can be established with something like the 001 Task Lamp. This [small desk lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haworth) has been designed with economy and simplicity in mind; however, the designer was not content to deliver anything bare-minimum. The solution was to use a few industrially abundant materials that could be combined into a lovely light fixture with charm. A circular base and a [long trough lampshade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp) were made from folded powder-coated aluminum, and these two pieces were connected with a lathe-spun post of beech wood. To brighten up the [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-lighting-design) of the 001 Task Lamp, StudioMK's Mark Kelley gave the electrical cord a fabric-wrapped sheath in bold red. The table lamp fulfills its function with a ray of playfulness and delight. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cost-effective Lighting:** Designing and developing affordable lighting solutions using abundant materials to create lovely and playful light fixtures. - **Minimalist Design:** Creating lamp designs with economy and simplicity in mind by minimizing materials and highlighting functional features. - **Playful Illumination:** Incorporating bold and colorful elements to add playfulness and delight to lighting fixtures. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Creating lamp designs that align with consumer's affordable and functional home decor needs. - **Furniture:** Developing minimalist lighting designs that complement furniture and other home decor elements with a playful touch. - **Interior Design:** Collaborating with interior designers to create lighting fixtures that are both functional and visually pleasing, while also complementing different design styles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md) - [Minimal Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Workstation Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-lamp-concept.md) - [Weighted Multi-Position Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desk-lamp-design.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Elegant Axis-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendulum-lamp.md) - [Demure Designer Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designer-desk-lamp.md) - [Architecturally Elegant Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp.md) - [Flatpack Minimalist Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-loop-lamp.md)
