The Yotel Singapore's Lobby Contains Check-In Kiosks and Robots
The newly opened Yotel Singapore is hoping to change some of the unpleasantness that can occur while checking into a hotel, by streamlining the process so that guests must pass by two robot waiters and an automated kiosk, prior to meeting a human at the end of the hotel's lobby.
The kiosks are equipped with touch screens, magnetic strips and card readers, enabling guests to make payments and receive their room keys as quickly as possible. The robots act as concierges and can carry guests' luggage, or deliver amenities like towels or tooth brushes to any of the hotel's 600 suites.
Initially this tech-expansion was directed toward a millennial clientele, but the hotel discovered the self-check-ins and robotic employees were popular among a diverse grouping of individuals.

The Herbalist Hotel Fuses Healing Herbs and Modern Design
Amy Shao, a recent graduate of the Royal College of Art, has proposed a new conversion of a central London hospital, which would transform the former medical space into the unique Herbalist Hotel. Treating guests with herbs sprouting from the roof, ceiling, and walls, this new hotel aims to use the plants to treat Londoners suffering from stress-related illnesses. According to Shao, the Herbalist Hotel will allow patrons to "ease the tension of life by having fun and learning about herbs."
The Herbalist Hotel will feature a collection of suites themed around different herbs and their respective health benefits -- for example a calming lavender room would help improve sleep, while a eucalyptus room would nurse immune systems. The hotel would also give patrons a chance to visit a lab-like room where herbs can be cultivated indoors.

Meliá Hotels' Bracelet Makes Purchases Outside of the Resort
Meliá Hotels' wearable bracelet is a piece of smart technology that's serving as a more convenient form of payment for those visiting the popular Spanish resort.
Making sure one has cash in their wallet while traveling is both a hassle and a security risk. Now, those staying at a Meliá property in Magaluf can enjoy the comforts of leaving one's wallet in their hotel room. In addition to offering the convenience of tap-to-pay around the resort, this bracelet enables guests to make purchases at surrounding merchants, like coffee shops, clothing stores and restaurants.
By mid-August, this technology will be available at nine locations across Spain. While wearable technology isn't new to hotels, Meliá's stands out by allowing travelers to use tap-to-pay, room-charging technology outside of the resort grounds.

2. Tap-to-pay Convenience - Making transactions easier and faster for guests through the use of tap-to-pay technology in wearable devices.
3. Wearables Integration with Merchants - Expanding the functionality of wearable devices through integration with local merchants to provide payment options beyond the hotel or resort grounds.

2. Wearable Technology Industry - The industry can further develop wearable technology to integrate with other industries and enhance customer experience.
3. Retail Industry - Retailers can explore the integration of wearable technology and tap-to-pay technology to improve the customer experience and increase sales.

From Meditative Tree Houses to Secluded Cabin Experiments
The digital revolution can be extremely beneficial, as well as stressful to humans, but these digital escapist destinations offer a welcomed and much needed detox. Social media platforms and technological innovations are a tool that connect people, relay information, accelerate work flow and assist in day-to-day tasks. However, with the amount of data, research and products people face every day, it is extremely easy to get overstimulated and suffer negative impacts to the human psyche.
Vacations are the logical answer to such problems, but the answer isn't contained in a hot tourist destination. Rather, the answer is in mindful digital escapist destinations. People have began to favor a much more secluded choice for their digital detox — from neighboring urban conservation parks to distant breathtaking views from tree house hotels.
