Brands are focusing on fighting inflammation, perhaps for the relatively vague understanding most people have of it, by putting anti-inflammatory ingredients into their food and beverage products. With "inflammatory" often functioning as an umbrella term to describe a variety of different ailments, this marketing technique allows brands to tout their products' health benefits while remaining non-descriptive – all to appeal to as many consumers as possible.
