American TV show host Jimmy Kimmel delivered a talk on gun control in the wake of the tragic Las Vegas shooting, which occurred on Sunday October 1st at an outdoor country music festival called Route 91 Harvest, where a crowd of approximately 22,000 gathered to hear some of their favorite artists.
The perpetrator of the crime caused the death of at least 58 people and injured over 500, making it the deadliest shooting in modern US history -- even more so than the Pulse nightclub shooting that happened just a year prior. In addition, the perpetrator is believed to have accumulated all the weapons he used legally, including a range of explosives, automatic rifles, and guns with scopes – all of which enabled one person to cause astronomical harm in a matter of minutes. As Kimmel states in his emotional monologue, these tragedies can be prevented, despite what many politicians and others who are in support of the NRA and the second amendment are saying.
In order to prevent yet another tragedy like this from happening again, Kimmel urges government officials to make changes in gun laws so that more innocent lives aren't lost to senseless violence, which he believes is the only logical reaction to such an event.
