In his talk on Africa, Sangu Delle offers an alternative approach to achieving economic freedom on the continent.
The speaker declares traditional methods of growth are not working. Despite the $1 trillion spent on development aid in the past six decades, the current income per capita is lower than it was in the 1970s. Even though the Bretton Woods Institutions push for free trade, there is no evidence it will work. The financier also believes microcredit loans are romanticized and has found most people just want jobs, and not to be entrepreneurs.
The talk on Africa suggests investing in pan-African titans is the solution. He believes the trade barriers and similar limitations are worth overcoming. Delle advocates for supporting fewer, higher impact entrepreneurs and states political freedom is meaningless without economic freedom.
