Scientist Will Marshall's space photography keynote explores how Planet Labs hopes to revolutionize current satellite imaging by creating smaller and better quality cameras. These new high-tech cameras will completely transform how consumers see the world with faster, real-time images delivered daily from space.
Marshall advocates for having smaller satellites embedded with high resolution cameras so that we can see up-to-date images from space of Earth on a daily basis. This way we can stay on top of what is going on in different parts of the globe and direct our attention to problems as they happen. He says, "The Earth is constantly changing... and the satellite imagery we have of it today is old, typically years old, and that's important because you can't fix what you can't see."
