In this political keynote by Jeremy Heimans, he explains the significant impact that social movements can have on politics and how ordinary people from all over the globe can cause real change in their societies.
Heimans uses the President of the United States as an example of a leader faced with several obstacles. He explains how the President faces several areas of resistance to his proposals for change from such things as corporations, lobbyists and the media. Heimans explains how modern advancements in technology have slowly lowered the barriers to political change, causing strong social movements to come about. Different people coming together to voice their concerns and beliefs can create extremely strong social movements and according to Heimans, it can serve to create significant change in such areas as politics.
