Zero Emission Homes - The Lighthouse (GALLERY)

The UK has passed legislation requiring all homes be emission free by 2016, and the first prototype for the new green home standard has been unveiled. Dubbed “The Lighthouse,” it has all the features that you’d come to expect, such as smart monitoring and metering system and alternative energy sources. The home also has sustainable design features, such as having the sleeping areas on the main floor and the living areas on the upper floors to take advantage of natural daylight. The curved roof also provides the living areas with high ceilings, creating an illusion of bigger space.
