Styria is a southeastern province of Austria, and the home of this prize-winning YUG house. The house is the winner of the Province of Styria Architecture Prize because of its congruity with the surrounding landscape. The YUG house was designed by the X Architekten firm.

The traditionalists in Styria have been very bothered by recent urban sprawl. The curator of the prize, Andreas Ruby, said that the YUG house was awarded for its hillside-friendly design.

Implications - The building features an entrance to the village via a long ridge of a hill. The buildings structure is enhanced by the community and does not harm the landscape the way some of the other modern buildings in the area have -- expect this to be a hit with the local community.
