YouTube Censored in Pakistan [Edit]

Conflicting reports from the Middle East claim that YouTube was banned in Pakistan because of the negative trailer by a Dutch film maker insulting Islam and/or that YouTube has republished the offensive Danish cartoon of Mohammad that had many local citizens enraged. Regardless of the reason, YouTube has been banned indefinitely.

A few months ago, Turkey and Thailand also temporarily banned the site, but it has since been restored there.

“The government has valid reason for that, but they have to find a better way of doing it. If we continue blocking popular websites, people will stop using the internet,” said Wahaj-us-Siraj, convener of the Association of Pakistan Internet Service Providers.
