Youth-Empowering Fashion Shows

This Youth Basketball Team Was Asked to Model a High End Collection

This youth fashion show has a heartwarming story that converted a troubled neighborhood in Paris to a safe hangout for kids. Years ago, French retailer Pigalle teamed up with Nike and Lebron James to create a basketball court in an area known for sex shops and gangs. To keep kids off the street, the basketball court was seen as a proactive solution.

Years later, Pigalle's creator Stéphane Ashpool has formed a youth basketball team that he now coaches. The video above documents Pigalle's unorthodox 2016 Spring/Summer fashion show that features his team's players as models. Ashpool not only helped rebuild a dangerous area, he has also stayed connected to the community. A documentary describing Ashpool's basketball team preceded the youth fashion show, which created a production that was a celebration of youth.
