Ever wonder why you made a decision in past—broke up with that ‘perfect’ boyfriend (the real details conveniently forgotten) or maybe you decided to move abroad (at the time the reasons seemed obvious, and now that you’re homesick…) Now you can write a letter to future you, and explain to yourself why you did something or warn yourself about something that you might be tempted to do. The free website was started in 2004 by Matt Sly and Jay Patrikios who save your emails to the future and send them back to you (or someone else you choose) at a specified date. There are 536,384 letters and counting, and a part of the site hosts an entertaining selection of public but anonymous letters to the future that are funny, sad, boring, and sometimes even scary (even a few suicide notes): “If Loren broke your heart, don’t worry. He said he might.” and “happy 65th birthday—unless you are dead because you started smoking again”). References: futureme.org, latimes Filed In: |
