World Debut - Dodge Unveils the 2009 Challenger (CAS 2008) (VIDEO)

The 2009 Dodge Challenger was the most anticipated reintroduction at the Chicago Auto Show after a 35 year absence from the marketplace.
“The all-new Dodge Challenger SRT8 is engineered to give customers everything they want in a modern muscle machine,” said Mike Accavitti, Director – Dodge Brand and SRT Global Marketing, Chrysler LLC. “The new version of Dodge’s American classic boasts tire-smoking performance and head-turning design while offering a wide array of state-of-the-art technology, such as GPS navigation, ‘Keyless Go’ entry, a MyGIG® infotainment system and UConnect hands-free communication.”
This hot little number commanded all of the media attention and was the shinning star of the show. Two other competitors seeking the top position in the “muscle car” arena are the Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee and the Ford Mustang Bullitt (both pictured below).
Chrysler Vice Chairman and President Jim Press unveiled the new generation pony car to the media on Wednesday, Feb 6th. A 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 that produces 425 horses and 420 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels powers the production version of the ‘08 Dodge Challenger SRT8. A 5-speed automatic gearbox is standard, and comes with a lock up torque converter and AutoStick. All four wheels are equipped with red, painted Brembo calipers, and offer customers benchmark braking.
