It might first look as though the Worker Lamp is another piece of building equipment, standing four meters tall with jointed segments and a sturdy tripod base. The object was indeed intended to be present on the construction site, but its purpose is to illuminate the area to facilitate productivity and safety once the sun has set.
Part of the VDI 2860 collection, Pascal Howe's "functional sculpture" overtly expresses its various metal components that make its assembly so solid, yet flexible. A broad foundation with three feet enables it to be set up on rough terrain and its adaptable nexuses allow the platform to be raised and lowered. A long arm provides sufficient freedom in the fixture's orientation and the Worker Lamp features 360 degrees of lightbulbs to provide multi-directional illumination.
